The thinking behind this bet is pretty simple. If the game turns into a shootout, the Chiefs will almost certainly come away with a win. If you like Tampa Bay to win, the Buccaneers' defense will probably need to make this at least a relatively low-scoring game. There's reason to believe Tampa Bay can do just that.
The Chiefs' offensive line is seriously banged up. Stalwart tackles Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher are both out for this one. Not only does that mean backups will have to take their place, it also means players will have to be playing out of position all over this offensive line.
That's playing with fire against the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay generates pressure at the third-highest rate in the league (27.9%), recording 48 sacks (T-No. 4 in the NFL) and 116 QB hits (T-No. 2).
We saw similar issues doom the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. Edge rusher Shaquille Barrett took advantage of a matchup with a backup tackle, recording a whopping 3.0 sacks. Jason Pierre-Paul chipped in with 2.0. And don't forget about the likes of Vita Vea and Ndamukong Suh on the interior, or Devin White and Lavonte David blitzing off the edge, either.
If Mahomes is under duress all game, this Chiefs' offense might not look like the unit fans are expecting it to. And Tampa Bay has more than enough firepower to out-score Kansas City if the Chiefs' offense isn't clicking the way it usually does.
Juiced at +337, this is a solid way to increase the payout if you like Tampa Bay to come out on top.
