The Carolina Panthers remained undefeated after a win on Thursday night, but it came at a huge cost. Star running back Christian McCaffrey left the game with a hamstring injury and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the contest.

It's unclear at this point how long McCaffrey will miss, but quarterback Sam Darnold had a message of reassurance for his RB after the injury.

Darnold put zero pressure on McCaffrey to rush his return. Instead, the QB encouraged his star back to take as much time as he needs so he can come back 100% to finish the season. That's exactly what the team's leader should be saying.

It's impressive to see Darnold not only sounding like a franchise QB, but also playing like one to start the 2021 campaign. He's racked up 888 yards, 3 TDs and just 1 INT in the first three games while adding another three scores on the ground.

It'll be on Darnold to make sure Carolina keeps its play up with McCaffrey sidelined. Wide receiver D.J. Moore has had a huge role in the offense already, but others like Robby Anderson, Terrace Marshall Jr. and Chuba Hubbard will need to step up.
