While the Houston Texans continue to embark on an uphill rebuild, other teams around the league have come calling about some of the stars on their roster. Notably, wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

Cooks has been linked to various trade rumors in the past week. The New Orleans Saints are one team interested and the franchise has now been officially linked to their former first round draft pick.

Saints Trade Rumors

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Wednesday that New Orleans has "inquired" Houston about Cooks' services.

Saints Brandin Cooks

Cooks is no stranger to New Orleans. The Saints drafted the former Oregon State standout with the 20th overall selection back in 2014.

The eight-year pro has been nothing short of brilliant, aside from his rookie season and one down year with the Los Angeles Rams in 2019. In fact, Cooks has recorded at least 1,000+ receiving yards in six of his eight NFL seasons, and is fresh off of back-to-back campaigns with 12 total touchdowns and 2,187 receiving yards.

New Orleans understands its pressing need at wideout. All-Pro Michael Thomas will return in 2022, but the rest of the wide receiver depth chart left Saints fans wanting more. New Orleans' top two wideouts (Marquez Callaway and Deonte Harris) combined for 1,268 yards a year ago, which is just 231 more yards than Cooks' solo production.

The Saints also have their eye out for WR talent in the NFL Draft, linked to names like Chris Olave from Ohio State. Currently, the Saints hold +4000 odds to win Super Bowl 57, according to Super Bowl odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
