Saints Set to Meet With Veteran Free-Agent Cornerback

The New Orleans Saints came into this offseason with a dire outlook, but they somehow managed to sneak under the NFL's 2021 salary cap. The Saints' cap-clearing efforts included cutting starting cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who has since landed with the Tennessee Titans.
New Orleans is on the prowl for a replacement, and they could find one in another veteran free agent CB.

T.J. Carrie has a visit set with the Saints in the coming days, per a report. While not a big name like Richard Sherman, he's certainly a capable starter who'd likely be more affordable for this cash-strapped team.
Carrie has started 53 of his 107 games played across seven seasons in the league, spending his 2020 campaign with the Indianapolis Colts. In 15 appearances, Carrie registered 2 interceptions (including a pick-six) and 8 passes defensed. He earned a solid 70.8 Pro Football Foucus grade for his performance across 396 snaps.
The Saints will certainly miss Jenkins -- who racked up 3 INTs and 12 passes defensed last season -- in their secondary, but Carrie represents a cheap option to fill that hole if his visit to New Orleans goes well.
