With Drew Brees now officially retired, the New Orleans Saints are entering a new era this offseason. Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill will likely battle it out and compete for the starting role in training camp. Conventional wisdom suggests Winston should eventually win the job.

But the organization might be bringing in some competition via the NFL Draft. In fact, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler is reporting that the team is interested in Florida Gators' quarterback Kyle Trask.

Saints Kyle Trask Rumors

The Saints' reported interest in Trask would make a whole lot of sense. Picking at No. 28, the team is clearly not going to be able to snag one of the five top-tier passers in this class. Trask is firmly in that second tier of QBs alongside names like Kellen Mond and Davis Mills.

He was probably the most productive passer of anyone in this class last year, though (aside from Mac Jones).

Trask racked up 4,283 passing yards and threw for 42 touchdowns to just 8 interceptions. Those are some truly stellar numbers. Though there are concerns about his lack of mobility and relatively average arm talent, there's obviously a lot to like about his game.

He'd be an interesting target for the team in the late first or second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
