The New Orleans Saints will look to the 2022 NFL Draft to improve their passing attack that needs a lot of work. Fortunately, the Saints have eight draft picks to work with — including the 18th overall selection.

While the draft isn't until April, the Saints have been eyeing one of the top-rated wide receiver prospects at this week's Draft Combine. The wideout in question is none other than Ohio State's Chris Olave.

Olave told reporters at the combine that the Saints are one of the four teams he's met so far. He also added that he was in contact with New Orleans WR Michael Thomas — a former Buckeye — to help him get prepared for this week.

Olave was a part of a lethal passing attack at Ohio State this season. The 21-year-old standout finished his final Buckeyes season with new career highs in receptions (65), receiving yards (936) and touchdowns (13) in 11 games. His efforts earned him second-team All-American honors.

With Thomas missing the entire 2021 campaign due to injury, the Saints were left without a true No. 1 wideout. That was made evident by none of their wide receivers breaking the 700-yard mark. Getting Thomas back at full health is a necessity for New Orlean's success in 2022.

Regardless of who is starting under center next season, a passing game including Olave and Thomas, as well as RB Alvin Kamara, looks promising on paper. Only time will tell if the Saints can nab Olave at Pick No. 18 or if they'll have to move up to draft him.

The 2022 NFL Draft picks off its three-day event on Thursday, April 28 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.
