The New Orleans Saints are rolling, but even after two blowout wins in the last two games, fans are still feeling some apprehension. The uncertainty around Drew Brees' broken ribs is weighing heavily on fans' minds.
New Orleans faithful will be the thrilled to hear that Brees is already making progress in his recovery ahead of the Saints' Week 14 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, when he will first be eligible to return.
Taysom Hill has filled in admirably for Brees, and the Saints have rattled off 24-9 and 31-3 wins. Hill still hasn't done a ton to ease concerns over his ability as a pure passer, tallying a combined 311 passing yards with no touchdowns, 1 interception and 6 sacks over his two starts.
That's not going to cut it come playoff time, and Saints fans are going to want to see Brees back and proving that he's at full health before the playoffs get here.
His last full game was perhaps his most impressive of the season, shredding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 222 yards with 4 touchdowns and no picks in a 38-3 blowout win in Week 9. That's exactly the kind of performance the Saints will need if they want to make a deep playoff run in 2020.
Brees still has some obstacles to clear, returning from fractured ribs and a collapsed lung isn't easy, but he has said that he hopes to ready for Week 14. Even if he's a bit behind schedule, it does sound like he should be back in the fold before the regular season is up.
The Saints' +550 odds to win the Super Bowl are the best for any NFC team on FanDuel Sportsbook, and Brees' health will play a big role in a potential championship run.
