This has been an offseason of change for the New Orleans Saints after several cap-casualty cuts and the retirement of Drew Brees. They haven't been very active in free agency given their cap situation, though offensive line depth is still a key area to address.
New Orleans is starting to fill out their O-line rotation after their latest free agent signing.
Saints Free Agency Rumors
The Saints have signed center Christian Montano to a one-year deal. He went undrafted in 2020 but competed for a roster spot during the Pittsburgh Steelers' training camp before being cut.
Montano played most of his collegiate career at Brown, where he earned second-team All-Ivy honors in 2017. He then played for Tulane as a graduate transfer and started 13 games for the Green Wave. He recently worked out at Tulane's pro day, where the Saints got an up-close look at him and decided to take a shot on the second-year player.
This signing at least gives New Orleans one more OL piece as they figure out their starting front. Top 2019 and 2020 draft picks Erik McCoy and Cesar Ruiz will likely make up the starting center and right guard spots, though they lacked depth behind them. Montano is an experienced player who can fill that need.
