After making his MLB debut on Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers, Nicky Lopez will likely get every opportunity he needs to prove to the Kansas City Royals' organization and his potential fantasy baseball owners that he belongs in the Majors.

Batting second in his debut, Lopez went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, which is a nice start for a player that looks to be a fringe fantasy option in 2019.

Nicky Lopez Prospect Ranking

Kansas City's No. 8 prospect was tearing the cover off the ball at Triple-A Omaha before getting the call from the Royals earlier this week, slashing an impressive .353/.457/.500 with nine stolen bases, 27 runs scored and a ridiculous 4.0 BB/K ratio (20 walks, five strikeouts) across 138 plate appearances.

It's a well-known fact that batting numbers are largely inflated in the Pacific Coast League, which could make fantasy owners hesitant to pluck the 24-year-old off the waiver wire. However, if his career numbers are any indication, this impressive batting line is no fluke.

Nicky Lopez Minor League Stats

Lopez owns an excellent .296 career batting average and a 10.6 career walk percentage at four Minor League levels, thanks to his advanced approach at the plate that has been consistently praised by MLB scouts at every level.

The one hole in Lopez's game is an extreme lack of power (20 career homers). However, his inherent ability to make consistent contact, along with his steals potential should give him a tremendous amount of fantasy potential going forward.

The young shortstop is available in 89 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues, but his ownership is bound to spike if his Minor-League numbers are any indication. Lopez looks like a nice pickup, especially if you're in need of middle infielder help.
