The Kansas City Royals have had a bumpy start to the season, coming into Wednesday's action at 6-9 and in third place in the AL Central. However, they avoided a scare on Tuesday night after Adalberto Mondesi was taken out of the game due to injuring his knee on a slide back into first base.

Royals manager Mike Matheny said the first check on Mondesi's injury was an encouraging one. As of now Mondesi is listed as day-to-day.

Mondesi has gotten off to a slow start this season, hitting just .140 with no home runs and 3 RBI heading into Wednesday.

Despite his struggles, Kansas City will need their young infielder healthy and on the field if they want any chance at competing for a playoff spot this year.

Kansas City currently has +2000 odds to win the AL Central, which are the worst odds in the division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB odds.
