Ron Rivera has been involved in football for almost his entire life. Before he was hired as head coach of the Carolina Panthers in 2011, he spent nine years as a player for the Chicago Bears and another 15 years in coaching.

However, before all that, he was an All-American linebacker with the California Golden Bears. While looking through the archives, Ron Rivera looks completely unrecognizable.

There's really no other way to put this, but he was a hunk! Rivera finished his career as the school's all-time leader in sacks with 22 and tackles with 336, which is quite the accomplishment. He was also named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year in 1983.

Rivera also met his wife Stephanie, a point guard for the women's basketball team, while he was playing at Cal. Stephanie Rivera has also had a career as a basketball coach, most recently with the Washington Mystics.

Rivera has been tasked with a difficult job in rebuilding the Washington Redskins, but his previous success in Carolina bodes well for the franchise.
