The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't expect to confront tough offseason questions this early, but their loss in the Divisional Round has brought these topics to the forefront. It's possible that Tampa Bay could lose both Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski to retirement with the 2021 campaign officially in the rearview.

Gronk has revealed his current stance on retirement as questions swirl about his playing future.

Rob Gronkowski Retirement

The legendary tight end said if he was forced to decide on playing right now, his decision would be no. Gronkowski stressed that every player needs time to think and decompress from the long grind of the season, so that's why he wouldn't commit to re-upping right away.

"I would be like, 'No, I'm not playing.' ... You've got to give it some time. You've got to rest. I would say to see how everything goes, how everything plays out."

Gronk didn't completely rule out returning, though. He hinted that "in three weeks, it might be yes," which firmly leaves the door open for him to play in 2022.

It's possible Brady's decision on his playing future could sway Gronk to go either way, though the TE said he would consider coming back even if his longtime QB decides to call it quits.

Gronkowski's injury troubles this season may also play a factor in his decision. He walked away from the game in 2019 after various injuries, and his 2020 campaign in Tampa Bay was just his third season out of 11 that he's played in every contest.

The Buccaneers will certainly welcome Gronk back with opens arms if he does want to suit up again in 2022.
