Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins will once again be out of the lineup as his team is set to face the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon.

This will be the third consecutive game that the 28-year-old has missed, which is, understandably, quite concerning for the Phillies.

While no injury was given as to why he'll be out, Hoskins was dealing with a "minor groin issue" last week, so there's the possibility that it could still be lingering.

Rhys Hoskins Injury Update

Hoskins has been one of the Phillies' best players this season, so, understandably, he'll be missed as long as he's dealing with whatever has kept him out of the lineup lately. He has 24 home runs, 68 RBI and a .244/.332/.509 slash line through 104 games so far.

Hoskin's offensive production has been one of the reasons why Philadelphia has averaged 4.64 runs per game (12th) this season. Fortunately, they've proven to be fine without him for the short term at least as the Phillies have outscored the Mets, 9-5, in the past two games that he's missed. Obviously, that's a small sample size, but it shows that the team can make do without him for now.

The Phillies will look to extend their winning streak to eight games as they take on the Mets without Hoskins on Sunday. Philadelphia is favored to win at -154 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, while New York is the +130 underdog.
