Sitting in fifth place in the NL Central, the 2022 season hasn't quite gone according to play for the Cincinnati Reds. It hasn't helped that reigning NL Rookie of the Year Jonathan India has missed the entire season save 11 games with a nagging hamstring injury.
Fortunately, the news seems to be turning the corner for Cincinnati. On Monday, the club received an amazing injury update on their slick infielder.
Jonathan India Injury Update
India is finally cleared to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville, beginning on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old second baseman hasn't played since April 30 because of the injury, which started just a few weeks into the season. India spent 10 days on the IL in the middle of April before re-aggravating the injury at the end of the first month of baseball.
It can't be overstated the importance of India's bat in Cincinnati's lineup. He slashed .269/.376/.459 in 150 games his rookie season, including 21 home runs and 69 RBIs. That's A+ production from a slick middle infielder.
