Reds Claim Veteran Infielder Off of Waivers

The Cincinnati Reds have gotten off to an abysmal start to the 2022 campaign, opening the year with a 2-13 record. Unsurprisingly, the team is tinkering with its roster a bit in hopes of finding a spark this year.
Cincinnati recently claimed infielder Matt Reynolds off of waivers from the New York Mets.

Reynolds has never been a full-time starter at the MLB level, but he should be able to provide this team with a little added depth. In his first three seasons in the bigs, Reynolds slashed .223/.295/.340. Those obviously aren't eye-popping numbers, but he could be a solid part of a platoon on the infield.
Don't expect this move to be the start of a drastic turnaround, though. Cincinnati owns the second-worst odds in the division to win the NL Central at +2500, only leading the hapless Pittsburgh Pirates (+7500), according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
