If there's one MLB team that's been turning up the heat as of late, it's the Boston Red Sox. At 12-7, the Red Sox are in sole possession of first place in the AL East. Their 12 wins are also a tie for second-most across the entire MLB.

And the team is finally getting some respect from ESPN in their latest MLB power rankings. Last week, Boston was ranked at the No. 13 spot, however, the Sox are now all the way up to No. 3.

It's looking like not many teams will be able to stop Boston's momentum. The Red Sox were ranked No. 21 on ESPN's Week 1 list, so there's no telling where they will end up on next week's power rankings if they remain this hot.

One of the main reasons why the Red Sox have had all this early success is because of their offense. They've been averaging 5.42 runs per game (2nd) on a league-leading .285 team batting average. To put that into perspective, the next closest team in that category happens to be the Los Angeles Angels (.266).

Left fielder J.D. Martinez has been a big influence behind Boston's firepower as he already has 6 home runs and 20 RBIs on a .368/.427/.750 slash line.

As it stands, the Red Sox have pretty decent World Series odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Boston is currently available at +2000, tying the team for the eighth-best odds in the MLB.

But given where the Red Sox stand in the power rankings, Boston could also be surging up in the odds sometime soon.
