Rays News: Tampa Bay Gets Bad Update on Mike Brosseau Injury

The 2021 MLB season has been a rollercoaster ride for Tampa Bay Rays infielder Mike Brosseau. After being optioned and recalled to Triple-A Durham twice since June 14, he now finds himself out of Tampa's lineup for the foreseeable future.
The Rays placed Brosseau on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain on Friday. The severity of the infielder's injury is unknown, so he could end up spending more than 10 days on the IL if the prognosis isn't good.
#Rays make room to add Brujan as expected. To do so, they place Brosseau on the IL due to a right oblique strain.

Mike Brosseau Injury Update
Brosseau has tallied 4 home runs and 17 RBI in 143 at-bats so far this season. However, he hasn't been seeing the ball as well as he has in the past. Brosseau is slashing .182/.265/.322, which is well below his career slash line of .244/.312/.429. Perhaps some time off will help him get back on track so he can help Tampa with its playoff push.
Placing Brosseau on the injured list will allow the Rays to add promising prospect Vidal Brujan to the lineup. The 23-year-old served as Tampa's 27th man in the team's doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday. Brujan finished the two contests by going 1-for-6 at the plate while recording an RBI and a stolen base.
With the Rays being considered a top-10 team by FanDuel Sportsbook, you can bet that they'll want their lineup to be fully healthy as soon as possible. Tampa currently has +1600 odds to win the World Series, which ranks ninth-best across the majors.
