Rays News: Tampa Bay Gets Bad News on Collin McHugh Injury Update

With a 60-39 record, the Tampa Bay Rays are tied with the Boston Red Sox for the top spot in the AL East. Unfortunately, the Rays will be a bit short-handed going forward as left-handed pitcher Collin McHugh was placed on the injured list with "arm fatigue" on Saturday.
A timetable wasn't given regarding a return, however, the placement is retroactive to July 22. McHugh will be eligible to come off of the IL on Sunday, August 1.

Collin McHugh Injury Update
Considering how the Rays just traded LHP Rich Hill to the New York Mets on Friday, losing even more pitching depth is never a good thing. Fortunately, Tampa Bay has a 3.63 team ERA (T-8th), so they should be able to manage in the short term at least.
McHugh has already had issues staying in the lineup this season, as he landed on the COVID-19 list a few months ago. Nevertheless, he's still pitched to a 3-1 record through 23 games (4 starts) while recording a 1.51 ERA, 0.912 WHIP and 12.7 strikeouts per 9 IP.
Hopefully, McHugh can recover quickly so that he can help the Rays in their hunt for their first-ever World Series. Tampa Bay has +1200 odds (T-7th) to go on a championship run this season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
