Rays Get Great News on Chris Archer's Injury Update

Chris Archer's return to the Tampa Bay Rays hasn't quite gone as planned so far. In his first season back with the club since 2018, the starting pitcher has thrown just 4.1 innings pitched. He landed on the injured list with a forearm injury back in early April and Tampa Bay fans haven't seen him in MLB action since.
Fortunately for the Rays, it looks like Archer just got some great news with his latest injury update.

Chris Archer Injury Update
After almost three months on the shelf with the forearm injury, the veteran right-handed pitcher will begin his official rehab assignment with Tampa Bay's minor league affiliate this week. Archer will likely make multiple minor-league starts before rejoining his club for the second half of the season.
It's a welcome sign considering how beloved Archer is in Tampa Bay. He spent the first 6.5 years of his career with the Rays, racking up two All-Star appearances and a 3.70 career ERA. Throughout his nine-year MLB career, Archer has pitched to a 3.87 career ERA and 1.255 WHIP while striking out close to 10 batters per nine innings.
The Rays already own the seventh-best staff ERA (3.50) across the league and sit in second place in the AL East with their 53-37 overall record. Getting back a solid, veteran pitcher is always welcomed in a pennant race, and Tampa Bay owns +155 odds to win the division on FanDuel Sportsbook.
