The Baltimore Ravens left Gillette Stadium with a 37-26 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday, but not before defensive tackle Michael Pierce exited with an injury. The sixth-year veteran has since been diagnosed with a biceps tear and will now undergo further testing to determine the severity of his injury.

While it's still too early to rule Pierce out for the rest of the season, the expectation is that he will be sidelined for an extended period of time. It's a disappointing development considering he returned to Baltimore on a three-year deal worth $16.5 million this past offseason after spending one year with the Minnesota Vikings.

Pro Football Focus ranked Pierce fifth among interior linemen in rush defense through three weeks this season. His absence will be noticeable along a defensive line that is already giving up 5.0 yards per carry in 2022 (T-No. 25 in NFL). Overall, the 29-year-old logged 6 tackles, 1 QB hit and 1 forced fumble before going down.

Baltimore turned to 2022 third-round pick Travis Jones once Pierce left the game in Week 3 and he remains the likeliest candidate to see increased snaps moving forward, Across three seasons at UConn, Jones tallied 134 tackles (19.0 for loss), 8.5 sacks and 1 fumble recovery in 33 games.

A few notable names that stick out in the free agent market at DT include former Ravens starter Brandon Williams and five-time Pro Bowler Ndamukong Suh. For now, Baltimore enters a Week 4 matchup against the Buffalo Bills as 3-point home underdogs according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
