The Texas Rangers made the first big splash of the MLB offseason when they signed former Mets starting pitcher Jacob DeGrom to a 5-year, $185 million contract. Texas was long rumored as a top landing spot for deGrom, and they pulled the trigger and got it done.

Now that Texas has solidified the top spot in their rotation, they still have their eyes on one more starting pitcher with a spot in the middle of their rotation open.

Rangers Targeting Jameson Taillon

They are reportedly targeting another former New York starter, but this time it's a former Yankee in Jameson Taillon.

Taillon has spent the last two seasons with the Yankees, having an up-and-down tenure there. At times, Taillon looked unhittable, but others he struggled. That being said, overall, Taillon's 2022 season was encouraging, pitching to a 14-5 record and a 3.91 ERA.

Taillon won't blow anyone away with his numbers or his stuff, but he is a really solid veteran pitcher who can play in big games and would be a great add to Texas' rotation in a mid-or back-end starter role.

Taillon is also from Woodlands, TX, so this would be somewhat of a homecoming for him, that might be an attractive piece in his decision making, especially since it seems at this point, the Yankees have other plans for his spot in the rotation.
