The Las Vegas Raiders spent the offseason making a few, highly notable additions to their roster in hopes of a deep playoff run in 2022. This included the likes of Davante Adams and Chandler Jones.
Despite the splashy additions, that hasn't stopped the front office from continuing to make improvements to the roster. Las Vegas is circling its special teams this week as reports revealed the Raiders are working out a free-agent kicker.
Raiders Tristan Vizcaino
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Monday the Raiders will conduct a second workout with free-agent kicker Tristan Vizcaino on Wednesday.
Upgrading the roster is always a smart offseason decision, however this decision may raise from eyebrows because of Las Vegas' depth at the position.
Daniel Carlson is under contract until the 2026 season, and heads into this season off the best year of his four-year NFL career.
Carlson led the league with 40 made field goals a year ago (on 43 attempts) and also connected on 30 of his 33 extra point attempts.
Vizcaino went undrafted and only has seven games of NFL experience under his belt. He last suited up for the Los Angeles Chargers, where he made 6-of-7 field goal attempts and 10-of-15 extra points. Perhaps this is just an insurance policy for injuries throughout the summer, but the Raiders should feel more than comfortable with their current option at kicker.
