As inter-conference foes, the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers have not met since November 2016 (when the Raiders scored a 35-32 win).
They will compete to break a 3-3 all-time series tie in Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season as the Raiders travel to Carolina. FanDuel Sportsbook has already released odds for that matchup, along with dozens of other games for the season, and the Raiders have opened as 1-point underdogs.
Raiders vs Panthers Spread Week 1
The Raiders and Panthers were both picking in the top half of the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but the Panthers had a much rougher season, finishing 5-11 compared to the Raiders' 7-9.
The Panthers have made some significant changes this offseason, hiring Matt Rhule as their new head coach and Teddy Bridgewater as their franchise QB. They had one of the NFL's worst defenses in 2019, however, and losing Luke Kuechly to retirement doesn't leave much room for optimism that they'll improve.
The Raiders addressed two positions of need in the first round of the draft, with wide receiver Henry Ruggs and cornerback Damon Arnette, though they didn't make many other splashy moves in the offseason.
These odds will surely undergo plenty of changes before the start of the season rolls around, but for now the Raiders are expected to open their first year in Vegas with an 0-1 road record, while the rebuilding Panthers are projected to get off to a strong start.
