Despite making big moves in the offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders are off to a dreadful start. The team is just 2-6 heading into Week 10 and their playoff hopes are quickly slipping away.

Thursday was a wacky day in Raider land. Not only did the franchise learn two offensive stars (Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow) were headed to the IR, but the team also suffered a surprising retirement from one defensive starter.

Linebacker Blake Martinez announced his mid-season retirement on Thursday via an Instagram post. This is on the heels of Martinez missing Wednesday's practice due to personal reasons.

Martinez started in two of the four appearances he's made this season, racking up 20 combined tackles. He's played in just 39% of the defensive snaps.

The seven-year veteran joined the Raiders in October and quickly carved out a starting role. He played 90 of the snaps during Las Vegas' Week 9 clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Martinez also played for the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants during his career.
