The Kansas City Chiefs have ruled the AFC West for the last few seasons and the Las Vegas Raiders will need to make some moves in the offseason if they want to compete. One way they will be able to do that is by making crucial free-agent signings to help address holes on their roster.

One player the Raiders should target is a former Chief in wide receiver Sammy Watkins. It makes sense as the Raiders have little depth when it comes to pass catchers and could also take away a player that made a major impact on the Chiefs' offense when healthy.

Sammy Watkins Free Agency

The Raiders are in danger of losing their leading wide receiver from last season to free agency in Nelson Agholor (896 yards). They head into next season with Hunter Renfrow, Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards leading the charge. Thats is not a particularly strong core, but it would be strengthened by adding Watkins to the mix.

Watkins has been dealing with some injury issues in recent seasons, but he makes a major impact when out on the field. He averages 14.5 yards per reception and 54.2 yards per game over his seven-year career. He brings top-tier speed to the table and wouldn't cost as much as some of the other top free-agent options at the position.

Signing Watkins and stealing him away from the Chiefs would be an underrated improvement that would greatly benefit the Raiders heading into next season. Head coach Jon Gruden is known to have a few tricks up his sleeve and this is exactly the type of move he would make.
