Raiders Add QB Depth With Latest Free-Agent Signing

The Las Vegas Raiders' quarterback depth chart sustained a minor shakeup this offseason when Marcus Mariota left for the Atlanta Falcons in free agency. Mariota gave the team security behind Derek Carr as one of the best backups in the league, and now Las Vegas must find his replacement.
The Raiders appear to have a backup competition brewing after signing a second journeyman QB in free agency.
The #Raiders have agreed to terms with QB Nick Mullens, source says. Right now, it's him and Garrett Gilbert behind Derek Carr, so a good shot for him to land a backup gig.

Raiders QB Depth Chart
Las Vegas has a deal in place with Nick Mullens, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo. He'll join Garrett Gilbert as the backup options behind Carr, and it's possible only one of these signal-callers makes the final roster.
Mullens has the obvious edge when it comes to starting experience. Despite being undrafted in 2018, he started eight games for the San Francisco 49ers that year. He made another eight starts for San Francisco in 2020, and started a game for the Cleveland Browns in 2021.
Across 17 career starts, Mullens owns a 5-12 record. He's thrown for 4,861 yards, 26 TDs and 22 INTs in his career.
Gilbert has less overall experience, starting two games in four seasons. He's recorded 477 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in his career so far.
It's great to see the Raiders taking the search for their next backup seriously. Carr has enjoyed near-perfect health since 2014, but depth is always valuable at the most important position in football.
