With COVID-related restrictions being lifted throughout the country and the sports world, arenas and stadiums are beginning to fill up again. And, we are slowly starting to get a sense of normal back. In terms of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the "back to normal" will come on July 1st when PNC Park will once again allow full capacity.

This is definitely exciting news, and the details of the rollout bring some trends in the positive direction even before July 1.

Starting on June 3, the Pirates home stadium will move up to roughly 55 percent capacity. Additionally, all tickets for the remaining games of the season will go on sale on May 26 at 10 a.m. ET.

The Pirates are currently in the midst of a rough start to the 2021 season, sitting in last place in the NL Central at 17-23, 5.5 games behind the first-place Cardinals.

In recent years the Pirates haven't exactly been filling the stadium to the brim most days, ranking just 27th in the MLB in average attendance in 2019. However, it's been such a long time since fans could enjoy a baseball game how it was meant to be. We could see people flooding the gates at PNC Park come July, regardless of how the team is performing on the field.
