With the MLB Trade Deadline just hours away, there's still plenty of names for the buyers to pull off before the clock strikes 6 p.m. ET. The Philadelphia Phillies have been quiet thus far, but reports suggest the franchise holds a couple of priorities in these final hours.

MLB insider Jayson Stark reported Philadelphia's targeting of a pair of AL pitchers in order to bolster their rotation.

Phillies Trade Rumors

According to Stark, the Phillies scouted Seattle Mariners' lefty starter Marco Gonzales during his start against the New York Yankees on Monday night. He also noted there has been no sign of apparent traction thus far. That can change quickly on deadline day.

It's also rumored the Phillies are shopping for Noah Syndergaard of the Los Angeles Angels. Stark called Syndergaard the "top" of their shopping list.

Gonzales did not impress in his Yankee Stadium outing, allowing six runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings of work. That was a bit of an aberration considering the 30-year-old lefty entered the night with a 3.66 ERA.

Syndergaard would be an intriguing Phillies' addition because of his ties to the New York Mets and NL East. He's enjoyed a revival campaign with the Los Angeles Angels, pitching to a 3.83 ERA across 15 starts. That's his best ERA mark since the 2018 season.

Philadelphia is clearly looking at pitching help, it's just a matter of finding the right fit who's still on the board. This may not be the Phillies' only move, either, as reports suggest the team is shopping defensive help in center field.
