Phillies Designate Pitching Depth for Assignment Following Taijuan Walker Signing

The Philadelphia Phillies have been busy throughout the MLB offseason adding premier talent at positions of need. The Trea Turner signing stole all the headlines, but the Phillies also made a move to add important depth to the starting rotation with the addition of Taijuan Walker.
As a veteran starter with a career 3.89 ERA, Walker adds an important middle-of-the-rotation piece behind co-aces Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola.

Righty Tayler Scott was DFA'ed in order to make room for Walker on the 40-man roster.
Scott joined the organization in September when he was claimed off waivers from the San Diego Padres. The 30-year-old never made a big league appearance for Philadelphia and had spent previous time with the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles.
