Philadelphia Phillies fans collectively held their breath on Saturday when outfielder Roman Quinn fell down running to home plate and ended up being carried off the field. It was quickly ruled an injury to his Achilles tendon.
On Sunday, Phillies fans got more news, and it wasn't good. Quinn has already been placed on the 60-day IL.
Phillies News: Roman Quinn Injury
There's still no word on the exact severity of the injury, but it's clearly not a minor one. Missing at least two months is no joke, and it's certainly still too early to rule out the potential that this could be a more severe and even season-ending injury.
This has to be frustrating for Quinn (and Phillies fans). Quinn continues to show improvement when he's active, but injuries have plagued his tenure in Philly.
It's also not great for fans that the Phillies have called up Travis Jankowski in his place. Jankowski has played 350 major league games in his career, slashing just .238/.315/.313 while striking out on 23.7% of his plate appearances. He does offer some speed on the base paths though, having notched 64 steals.
As it stands now, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Phillies ranked third in the NL East with +450 odds to win the division.
