The Indianapolis Colts made one of the splashiest signings of the offseason, inking Philip Rivers to a one-year, $25 million deal. While the addition will likely be a boon for Indianapolis, it could actually be a negative for Rivers' fantasy football value.

With the Los Angeles Chargers, he was playing with an elite skill-position group that included Keenan Allen, Hunter Henry, Melvin Gordon, Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams. With Indianapolis he won't be so lucky, and it's tough to view him as a legitimate starter for the 2020 fantasy season.

Outside of T.Y. Hilton, Rivers won't have many proven pass-catchers to work with. Last season, no Colts player racked up more than 607 receiving yards. In Los Angeles, a whopping four players reached that threshold. To make matters worse, Hilton has missed a combined eight games over the past two seasons.

Even though he was surrounded by a ton of talent in 2019, Rivers only finished as QB15 overall and QB23 on a per-game basis, putting him well outside of fantasy starter consideration in most formats.

He does have some room to improve in Indianapolis, though. Indianapolis had the 13th-best pass blocking offensive line last season, while Los Angeles was the second-worst pass blocking unit, per Pro Football Focus.

Coming off a season that saw him produce like a fantasy backup, a bounce-back season doesn't look like its in the cards for Rivers.
