The 2019 MLB Home Run Derby field is nearly set, with six of the eight spots filled for the annual All-Star tradition.

With reigning NL MVP Christian Yelich the most recent to sign on, he'll join the Indians' Carlos Santana, the Braves' Ronald Acuna and three players who could more than double their 2019 MLB salary if they win this year's derby.

That's right, the Mets' Pete Alonso, the Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Pirates' Josh Bell and could all make more money by winning the 2019 MLB Home Run Derby than they do for playing 150-some-odd games during the regular season.

For Alonso, Guerrero and Bell, the new $1 million first-place prize could definitely be on their minds, as it is nearly double their annual salary for 2019. Alonso and Guerrero both have a base salary of $555,000, while Bell is earning $587,000. For Acuna, the $1 million prize will match his current 2019 paycheck.

Alonso, Guerrero and Bell are still on rookie contracts, but may be in line for a pay day sooner than later if they follow suit with Acuna, who signed an eight-year, $100 million contract extension with the Braves in April.

The Home Run Derby should be a great opportunity for young sluggers like these to show off their prodigious power to the rest of the world. While Yelich leads all of baseball with 30 homers, Alonso ranks second with 28 home runs and Bell is fourth with 25. Acuna has 20, Santana has 18 and Guerrero, who wasn't called up until April 26, is sitting on eight homers.

Rumors for the fifth and sixth entrants in the derby include Yankees' catcher Gary Sanchez, Rangers' outfielder Joey Gallo and Angels' DH Shohei Ohtani. Whoever joins the current six pack of players is sure to only add to the intrigue of the event, set to take place on Monday, July 8 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
