Frank Gore has been an NFL running back for the last 16 years and he is known for putting his head down and going to work each and every day. That is why it was great to hear former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis share a story about how Gore was at practices.
Willis said that although no one on the defense could touch Gore, the veteran ball carrier would still bring the punishment to them on every play. It seems clear that the coaching staff did not want to risk any kind of injury for the team's starting RB. However, Gore has never been capable of playing at any level except 100%.
Both Willis and gore are 49ers legends and spent eight seasons together on the team. Willis retired back in 2014 after posting 950 tackles (60 for loss), 20.5 sacks, 53 pass breakups, 16 forced fumbles and 8 interceptions across 112 games played. It's safe to say the five-time All-Pro dominated in his prime.
On the other hand, Gore has yet to stop playing football and remains in search of a team to join for the 2021 season. The five-time Pro Bowler has racked up 19,985 yards from scrimmage in his career and has scored an impressive 99 total touchdowns as well.
Gore has already said he would love to return to San Francisco if the stars aligned and what a sight that would be. If that ends up happening, the young linebackers on the team better watch out because it is obvious Gore doesn't mess around in practice.
