Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the league's darlings. He's both likable and incredibly skilled, winning MVP in 2018 and a Super Bowl ring in 2019. There's very little that he does wrong when on the field.
However, Mahomes made the wrong kind of history on Sunday when he was involved in the longest sack ever recorded. Pat McAfee made fun of the play on Twitter, and Mahomes responded with an amazing self-own.
Mahomes is no stranger to Madden, gracing the cover of Madden 20, and he knows that dropping back with a running quarterback is often a recipe for success. He is known for doing the same in real-life games, but he finally got caught on Sunday in the form of his history-making sack.
Despite the sack, Mahomes still has little to complain about. The Chiefs won on Sunday, 33-27, and improved their record to 12-1. The quarterback has the inside track on the NFL MVP and his team is favored to make the Super Bowl.
Mahomes will face a tough matchup in Week 15 against the New Orleans Saints, whose defense ranks No. 2 in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA metric. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds have the Chiefs as 3.5-point road favorites in that game.
