Through four weeks of the 2019 season, Patrick Mahomes had been flat-out ridiculous. He had led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 4-0 start and was averaging 337.5 passing yards per game while tossing 10 TDs to no INTs.
Those numbers were always going to regress a bit, as he was on a 16-game pace to throw for 6,040 yards with 40 TDs and no picks through four weeks, but he struggled against the Indianapolis Colts on "Sunday Night Football."
Perhaps Mahomes' fantasy owners are concerned because he followed up his worst game of the season (315 passing yards, no TDs in Week 4) with his second-worst game of the season (321 passing yards, one TD in Week 5).
Frankly, overreacting to a couple unproductive games would be a mistake. There aren't many QBs who could throw for more than 300 yards in back-to-back weeks and have it be considered an unproductive stretch.
Mahomes is still fantasy football's QB4 on the season, and he's only 3.4 points behind Lamar Jackson, who is QB1 thus far.
Mahomes does have a pretty tough upcoming schedule though, with games against the Houston Texans, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings.
If his production continues to slip during this four-week stretch, Mahomes could become a great buy-low candidate if his fantasy owner gets worried.
