The Carolina Panthers quickly became sellers this season after a putrid start and the firing of head coach Matt Rhule. The dealing of superstar running back Christian McCaffrey was the clear signaling that Carolina was tearing it all down.

Now as the deadline approaches Tuesday at 4 p.m. other Panthers could be on the move, but reports indicate they Panthers are clearly not interested in moving one young star.

Panthers Trade News

The Panthers received an offer for pass rusher Brian Burns form the Los Angeles Rams that included two first-round picks and young running back Cam Akers.

While it's great to have a young pass rusher, especially one more in line age wise with your rebuild, there are few players outside of quarterbacks that can draw multiple first-round picks and then some in a trade. Turning that down, no matter how good the player, takes guts.

Burns currently has 5.0 sacks through eight games this season, to go along with 8 tackles for loss and 9 QB hits.

Sure, there is no guarantee that the first-round picks turn into great players, but there is also no guarantee Burns continues his trajectory and remains as good as he is. Players fall off all the time. Being offered that much value in picks, plus a running back young and talented enough to step in a help the offense right away is a tough one to say no to.

Carolina better be right on Burns being the dominant force they expect for years to come, because if he isn't, that's a massive missed opportunity to a team that will need all the draft picks it can get over the next few seasons.
