When the XFL was quickly dissolved after the 2020 season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, players were free to sign with NFL teams. The league's biggest standout, quarterback P.J. Walker, quickly signed with the Carolina Panthers.

Now Walkers' top receiver, Cam Phillips, has also joined him in Carolina.

Walker and Phillips were the core of a Houston Roughnecks offense that led the XFL with 259.8 passing yards per game and a stellar 104.4 passer rating.

Walker was not just the best receiver in the Houston offense, either. His 455 receiving yards blew away the league's second-highest total of 338 (from Tampa Bay Viper Dan Williams). The duo was unparalleled in their success at shredding XFL defenses.

Of course, beating NFL defenses is another story entirely, and neither Walker nor Phillips project to crack the 2020 starting lineup for the Panthers, with Teddy Bridgewater getting the start at QB and the trio of Robby Anderson, D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel starting at WR.

The rebuilding Panthers are +380 underdogs to make the playoffs in 2020, according to odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.
