The Carolina Panthers have focused on adding defensive playmakers this offseason by signing the likes of Denzel Perryman, A.J. Bouye and Haason Reddick. One area that still needed to be addressed was interior defensive line depth besides Derrick Brown and Bravion Roy.

Carolina is reportedly meeting with a run-stopper who would fill that need perfectly.

Panthers Free Agency Rumors

The Panthers are expected to sign former Tennessee Titans starter DaQuan Jones after their meeting on Tuesday. Nabbing a starting-level talent this late in free agency who also solves a need is a huge win for Carolina.

Jones has been a consistent starter for Tennessee since 2015, starting 92 of a possible 96 games. He's recorded 9.0 sacks, 18.0 tackles for loss and 26 QB Hits since entering the league in 2014.

At 6-foot-4, 322 pounds, Jones provides a huge presence on the D-line. Pairing him with Brown should make the Panthers a nightmare for opposing teams hoping to establish the run against them.

Carolina's signings this offseason show they're focused on improving a defense that ranked No. 24 in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA metric in 2020.
