Christian McCaffrey was off to a great start in his 2021 season before the injury bug that plagued him so much in 2020 struck again. McCaffrey exited the Carolina Panthers' Week 3 game against the Houston Texans with a hamstring injury. Hamstrings are a tricky injury that can linger, and even at minimum sideline a player for a handful of weeks most of the time.

Luckily it looks like McCaffrey is defying the odds and could be back on the field after missing only 1.5 games.

There is no concrete decision made on his status for the Panthers' Week 5 contest against the Eagles, but things certainly seem to be trending in the right direction. Obviously McCaffrey will always want to be on the field and probably has a more optimistic view on his injury than the team, who might understandably be taking a more cautious approach.

As a 3-point home favorite against a mediocre Eagles squad in Week 5, according to FanDuel sportsbook. It would be awesome to have McCaffrey back in the field, but they could very well get it done without him. Then again, if he's healthy, it's going to be nearly impossible to keep him out of pads on Sunday as Carolina looks to move to 4-1 on the season.
