Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury. He could possibly return in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings after nearly being cleared for last Sunday's contest.
Head coach Matt Rhule gave a McCaffrey update at practice on Wednesday.
Christian McCaffrey Injury
It sounds as though the RB's status could go either way. Rhule didn't make a firm commitment on McCaffrey being active or ruled out, so he could ultimately be a game-time decision depending on his progress heading into the weekend.
McCaffrey totaled 324 yards from scrimmage and 1 TD before he was knocked out in Week 3. The Panthers are 0-2 in the two full games he's sat out so far, but his return should open things up for this Sam Darnold-led unit.
The Panthers head into their Week 6 matchup as 1-point underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. McCaffrey being active would likely push those odds in Carolina's favor.
