The Carolina Panthers' minicamp starts up this week and the team seems to be taking a chance on veteran safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. The 28-year-old free agent is set to join Carolina on a tryout basis in hopes of earning a contract for the 2021 NFL season.
Clinton-Dix spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers before being traded to the Washington Football Team in 2018. He played for the Chicago Bears in 2019 and proved he still has what it takes to be a starter by racking up 78 tackles, 5 pass breakups and 2 interceptions.
This won't be the first tryout of the offseason for the 2016 Pro-Bowler, though. He spent some time with the Houston Texans last month, but ultimately left without putting pen to paper. Clinton-Dix seems motivated to get back into the league after he did not play during the 2020 season following his release from the Dallas Cowboys.
The former first-round draft pick has started every game of the last six NFL seasons he has played in and has totaled 16 career interceptions in 96 games played.
Clinton-Dix's desire to prove the doubters wrong seems evident as his search for a new team to call home continues. It wouldn't be surprising to see him land with a team before the NFL season kicks off in September.
