After a six-game absence, Christian McCaffrey made his triumphant return to the field in Week 9. Right on cue, the superstar tallied 151 yards from scrimmage on 28 touches, scoring 2 touchdowns as well.
Unfortunately, his return might be short-lived. McCaffrey injured his shoulder toward the end of the Week 9 game, and he's now in real danger of missing his team's Week 10 showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This is obviously a devastating blow to the Panthers' offense. The Buccaneers are the league's No. 1 defense in Football Outsiders' DVOA metrics, and they're also No. 3 against the run. McCaffrey would have a much better shot at generating some positive plays than Mike Davis.
Davis, who averaged 86.5 yards from scrimmage per game while starting in place of CMC, should be a solid fill in yet again, but McCaffrey's presence would significantly boost Carolina's offensive ceiling.
Though CMC looks like a long shot to suit up, it'll be crucial for Panthers fans to monitor his status throughout the week.
