Pair of Top Brewers Prospects Selected for MLB Futures Game

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game is less than two weeks away, bringing several exciting activities for baseball fans to lose themselves in. While a lot of attention will be on attractions like the Home Run Derby, fans will also be treated to the stars of tomorrow during the MLB All-Star Futures Game.

The Futures Game rosters were announced on Thursday, revealing that the Milwaukee Brewers will have two up-and-comers representing the organization.

The two prospects that will be representing the Brewers at the Futures Game are none other than High-A Wisconsin starting pitcher Antoine Kelly and Single-A Carolina outfielder Jackson Chourio.

A second-round pick in 2019, Kelly's 2021 minor-league season was largely forgettable for all the wrong reasons. Fortunately, that hasn't been the case in 2022. He's pitched well for Wisconsin this season, going 2-3 in 15 starts with a 3.55 ERA and 100 strikeouts over 76 innings pitched.

Meanwhile, Chourio has shown tremendous potential at the age of 18. The teenage sensation is tied for the Mudcats team lead with 10 home runs, adding 33 RBIs as well. His impressive speed has landed him a team-high 125 total bases, along with 32 extra-base hits and nine stolen bases.

Leading the NL Central in July might have the Brewers' present looking strong, but their future is bright as well thanks to the likes of Kelly and Chourio. Only time will tell what kind of impact they can make on a bigger stage next week.

The 2022 MLB All-Star Futures Game will be held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, July 16 at 7 p.m. ET.
