The San Diego Padres have one of the best records in baseball but still trail the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West race. Health is an extremely important factor right now as one of these three teams looks to pull away.

Unfortunately, the Padres have just been dealt a blow with Dinelson Lamet's latest injury.

Dinelson Lamet Injury Update

Lamet has been placed on the 10-day injured list with inflammation in his right forearm. The Padres starter was pulled from his start on Saturday with "fatigue" in his arm and reportedly had trouble with his slider as a result. Obviously, Lamet having control issues and feeling arm fatigue is far from ideal, especially after he started the season on IL with a lingering elbow issue.

Lamet currently owns a 2-3 record and 3.67 ERA across 11 games for San Diego. The Padres' starting rotation will have to pick up the slack while Lamet is sidelined. The good news is San Diego's starters have the eighth-best combined ERA (3.52) in the majors.

Perhaps a quick IL stint will help Lamet feel refreshed for what will be an intense back half of the season. The Padres are tied for the fourth-best odds to win the World Series (+850), according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
