It's unclear how the Green Bay Packers' current Aaron Rodgers drama will resolve. The disgruntled QB could force his way out via trade, hold out during training camp until he gets a new deal, or straight up retire and pursue some off-field interests.

The uncertainty around Rodgers has Green Bay exploring QBs the team can add to its roster for depth just in case. As things stand right now, Rodgers and Jordan Love are the only quarterbacks on the roster.

Here's three free-agent quarterbacks the Packers should sign.

Free Agent QBs 2021

3. Brian Hoyer

Brian Hoyer is the perfect veteran mentor Green Bay could use if Jordan Love is suddenly thrust into the starting role. Hoyer has 12 years of NFL experience as both a backup and starter to impart on Love, who could go from backup that hasn't played a real snap at the next level yet to instant QB1. Hoyer also provides an insurance option for Green Bay under center in case of emergency. He's not the most exciting option, but this late in free agency the Packers don't have a ton of choices.

2. Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III is a more exciting potential QB addition. The former Pro Bowler has embraced his transition from starter to backup, spending the last three years with the Baltimore Ravens behind Joe Flacco and Lamar Jackson. He'd know exactly what Love is going through as a young signal-caller under the spotlight and could help him as he adjusts to a new potential role. And with two 3,000-yard seasons to his name, RG3 is certainly capable of filling in as starter if need be.

1. Nick Mullens

Nick Mullens has spent time as both a starter and backup during his first three NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He threw for 2,277 yards, 13 TDs and 10 INTs in eight starts for the Niners in 2018. And when Jimmy Garoppolo went down with another injury in 2020, Mullens threw for 2,437 yards, 12 TDs and 12 INTs. The QBs left on the market aren't going to be franchise-changers, but Mullens' recent experience makes him one of the more appealing options for the Packers. He likely wouldn't threaten Love, but he could step up if things go south.
