David Bakhtiari and the Green Bay Packers found themselves in a familiar situation on Sunday, as Bakhtiari sat on the sidelines nursing an injury while missing his 23rd game in the last three years.

The absence stemmed from Bakhtiari's ongoing recovery from a torn ACL, one that's kept the All-Pro left tackle from protecting Aaron Rodgers' blind side for the better part of three seasons. Unfortunately, this situation has been largely mishandled by Green Bay's coaching staff.

At least the Packers acknowledged they fumbled his return and are currently contemplating a change to his practice status moving forward.

David Bakhtiari Injury Update

Entering the season, Green Bay maintained that Bakhtiari would be held to a strict "3-day rule" in which the All-Pro would not be allowed to practice three straight days upon his return. That rule was quickly scrapped as Bakhtiari's desire to practice and stay on the field won out, until his knee flared up and caused him to miss Sunday's contest against the Washington Commanders.

Head coach Matt LaFleur was asked about revisiting this 3-day rule and said, "I think that’s definitely a discussion that’s going to be had with all of us – myself, Dave, our medical staff – in terms of what’s best.”

The last thing Green Bay wants is for Bakhtiari to miss any more time, especially after getting off to a disappointing 3-4 start. The Packers will try to right the ship in Buffalo this weekend, where they are listed as 10.5-point underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
