It hasn't exactly been a season to remember for the Baltimore Orioles. The O's own a 25-58 record – the second-worst record in the MLB. One of the few bright spots on the team has been the play of John Means, but he hasn't pitched early June due to a shoulder issue.
Thankfully, it sounds as if Means is nearing a return. He's set to pitch three-to-four innings in a rehab start on Friday for Baltimore's Double-A affiliate.
John Means Injury Update
It's far too late for this to turn around Baltimore's season or anything, but Orioles fans will be happy to see Means back on the mound. He was lights out before going down, owning a 2.28 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 71 innings pitched.
It's also possible that Baltimore could look to trade the 28-year-old at the deadline. A 2019 All-Star, the Orioles' ace would likely fetch a hefty return – something that has to be intriguing to this rebuilding club.
But if Baltimore hangs on to its ace, he should help make this team a lot more fun to watch down the stretch. Either way, Orioles fans have to be excited that Means is nearing a return.
