A pitcher has taken home the MVP award just twice since the turn of the century as Justin Verlander (2011) and Clayton Kershaw (2014) put together dominating seasons. Well, it looks like Jacob deGrom could join them in history as he remains the odds-on favorite to be named NL MVP following the All-Star break.

The New York Mets' ace leads all players with odds set at -105, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. He is followed closely behind by San Diego Padres' star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (+115), who leads the National League with 28 home runs and 20 stolen bases over the first half of the season.

deGrom has been nothing short of amazing this year as he ranks No. 1 the league in a number of statistical categories including ERA (1.08), WHIP (0.54) and batting average against (.126). The 33-year-old superstar is 7-2 on the season and has racked up 146 strikeouts across 15 starts (92.0 innings pitched). Simply put, he doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon and that is bad news for MLB hitters.

These odds are sure to keep changing, but deGrom will seemingly stay in first place is he keeps up his current pace. Here is how the rest of the odds shake out for the NL MVP winner.
