On Wednesday of this week, legendary Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban tested positive for Covid-19. One day later, however, the positive was deemed false by a negative test, and now we have learned that Friday's test has also come back negative.
According to Tom Rinaldi, if Saban can test negative again on Saturday morning, he will be deemed safe per NCAA protocols to coach in the Saturday night showdown with Georgia.
This is a crucial SEC head-to-head, as Alabama and Georgia currently rank number 2 and 3 in the nation, respectively. Both are undefeated through their first three games, and the winner will take a clear lead in the hunt for the FBS Championship.
If Saban is on the sidelines, it will mean a huge boost for the Crimson Tide, both strategically and emotionally. Alabama is 160-23 under Saban, and 5-1 against Georgia.
