While nothing is set in stone about who will start at quarterback for the Chicago Bears in 2020, that man will surely be happy about having rookie tight end Cole Kmet be part of the group protecting him.

While Kmet had an impressive resume as a receiving tight end during his time at Notre Dame, where he really made his mark was in the pass protection aspect of his position.

In 2019, among his 67 passing blocking attempts, Kmet didn't allow a single sack, QB hit or even a QB hurry. In other words he was a flawless pass protector.

While that won't be his primary job on the Bears next season, really good blocking tight ends that also have legitimate receiving ability are few and far between in today's NFL.

So whoever ends up starting under center for Chicago in 2020 should feel comfortable knowing they have Kmet blocking for them.
